Melding Metals and Minerals
This purpose of this ring guard was to transition a former engagement ring into an avant-garde cocktail ring without giving up the elegant simplicity of the platinum 18 engagement ring. And the owner did not want it to look like an engagement ring in a ring guard. We created a twisting key bottom-to-top entry for the 1.06 ct F color Radiant cut. As the diamond twists up into position it snaps flush with the broad upper surround and appears to be of one piece on the finger. The lower shank keyhole creates extra ballast to counterbalance the inherent top heaviness of this treatment., and has proved to be comfortable. Tracy has expressed a desire to do similar motifs around her diamond ring with both sapphire and emerald guards.

Gemmy International utilizes graphic artists when there is agreement that doing so may facilitate a more accurate expression of a clients vision. In the event that one doesn’t already have a design prepared, or even a concept of what you want, we are able to create images around any particular gem(s), theme, style, or occasion. They can be very detailed renderings from several perspectives, or simple thumbnail sketches. There is no fee for this service until a design is approved by the client. The fee is dependent on the effort involved.
We will be also be creating a line of exclusive drawings that will be available upon request for one-of-a-kind items.
We also recommend other designers, those which we sense have a style that is always striving to have the gems speak to the beholder. Many also are more geared to accelerated manufacturing methods. Our personal tastes run from totally buttoned-up architectural platinum shielding a superb sapphire, to a whimsical sapphire-eyed fire-breathing imperial dragon clutching a diamond encrusted globe in it’s five-taloned grasp above a celestial representation of lapis. Attempts at perfection are given plus points here at Gemmy, as is near-perfection.
